Ryan Dasalla was shot multiple times a block away from his high school at about 2 p.m. He died at the scene. A witness said there was a loud street quarrel between the victim and the occupants of a van who drove up to him. Gabriel Guerrero was arrested and his younger brother Daniel was still on the run. The Guerreros mistook Dasalla for another person who had allegedly beaten up their younger brother. Daniel Guerrero is said to have hit Dasalla in the head with the stock of a .22-caliber rifle. Dasalla tried to run, but was shot five times in the back, Carver said. Dasalla was an athlete who lettered as a nose guard on the Gabrielino High School football team.
