Occurred on Jan 10, 2001

Oxnard Police SWAT team fatally shot Richard Lopez as he held a female student hostage. The teenage gunman did not attend Hueneme High School. He told his hostage that he was distraught over family problems but couldn’t shoot himself because he wanted to go to heaven. The event took place in the quad just as students were finishing lunch.

i was there that day and im just glad he didnt kill anyone when he jumped that fence. he could have easily killed alot of people. the memory of that day will be with me forever...

I was there that day it still seems like a dream to me it all happened to fast I dont think we could all process it fast enough may he rest in peace we all got issues in our lives but we still are humans so dont judge thank god he killed no one but he did loose life poor kid he may have needed someone to be there for him this should be a lesson to all of us......R.I.P
