One man was dead and two others injured after someone fired shots as people began emerging from Tennessee State University's Gentry Center after Maplewood High School graduation ceremonies were held there. Just after 7 p.m., someone fired shots at Aundreus Taylor, 21, near a side door at the TSU facility. Another man held the door open while the shooter fired more shots at Taylor as he tried to escape. Taylor was shot in the face and head. A 19-year-old man was injured when a bullet grazed his arm. The third victim was believed to have been trampled as many of the almost 4,000 people attending the graduation tried to escape. Police believed that the shooting may have been gang related.
