Kurtis Graves shot and fatally wounded an 18-year-old rival, James Boone, outside the Murrell Dobbins Vocational-Technical High School in North Philadelphia on Wednesday. The shooting took place as classes recessed for the afternoon. Boone had recently dropped out of another city high school. Graves attended Benjamin Franklin High School. It was unclear what brought the two to the vocational school on the day of the shooting, but it was believed the teens may have been fighting for the same girl's affection.
