Shooter

James Sheets (14, Male), Student, Fatality (Suicide)

Occurred on Apr 24, 2003

James Sheets, 14, shot and killed his school principal, Eugene Segro, inside the crowded cafeteria about 15 minutes before school started. Friends of Sheets later said that he told them he hated the principal. He also said he hated his sometime girlfriend, who had begun dating another boy. On the day of the shoooting, Sheets brought three of his stepfather's revolvers to school. In a cafeteria packed with students, Sheets shot the principal in the chest before putting another revolver to his head and committing suicide. Friends said they never thought Sheets would do such a thing, that he was a good student who stayed out of trouble. Learn More (wikipedia.org)

This is terribly sad.
But this may not of entirely been his fault
for all we know he might of had untreated scitsofrinia!

schizophrenia... and no, schizophrenia is less likely to do this than bi-polar. trust me on this one.

your full of it, i knew the kid something happened within him and he snapped, no history of mental illness, no talking to himself, why the heck do you think everyone was so damn suprised. dont make excuses for him i was there, were you? if not i dont see you having any grounds.

Jimmy was one of my good friends all through jr. high and I talked to him that morning right before, there were no signs that he was going to do this. He told me he would see me in English class and asked if I had done the assignment. The memories of that day still play through my mind and it has been 7 years ago, this was a sad thing to happen.

I am from NJ and will be doing research for my mid-term paper for my degree in criminal justice. I chose this because it seems that there were no warning signs, and I am a HUGE supporter of the rights of young adults. I believe that the school system in the US today does almost nothing to ensure that ALL students succeed. The popular students get the best while those who are not almost get ignored and GOD forbid if someone needs extra help! GOD BLESS you all!

If there is anyone who is willing to give their account of that day, I can be reached via e-mail at marklurty@yahoo.com or marklurty.student.kaplan.edu I know that some of you may be reluctant but please believe me when I tell you that I know how you feel. I saw my cousin get stabbed in the throat at a party when I was 16. That was 34 years ago and I still think of him everyday. If someone can give me an account of what really happened, it would help others to understand how it was handled by police and school officials and we can make changes to make sure this doesn't happen again. Please help me!

i know his daughter. She is now married to my cousin, it was very sad that he couldn't see her get married.

- Allie (11/20/2011)

He was my uncle Gene and i loved him so much and didn't get a chance to say goodbye because he was taken so quickly. The next time I was going to see him was Easter and we didn't get that day. Yes Allie I agree, it was very sad on K's wedding day to not have her father there to walk her down the isle.I still don't understand what Sheets's motive was to shoot him knowing that my uncle was a friendly, helpful, caring man who was willing to guide any student toward a great future. If anyone knows anything about why he chose to end an innocent man life, please reply to this post and help me understand. Thank you.
