Stewart County school bus driver was killed as she stopped to pick up a student. Jason Clinard has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of the bus driver. Investigators said Clinard, 14 at the time, shot Gregory six times when she stopped to pick him up, an act apparently prompted by an argument over Clinard's use of smokeless tobacco. Public defender Jack Lockert met with the boy for about 45 minutes. "I would characterize him as being in shock," Lockert said. "We obviously feel like he has severe mental issues. He's an A and B student and had never been in trouble before." That morning as he watched TV, the teen said that he thought of shooting himself with one of many guns that his father kept in the home.
